The Main Types of Dental Crowns
Cement-Retained Crowns
Cement-retained crowns are attached with strong dental cement. This type of crown is very popular among dentists and patients.
This is used to “cap” a cracked tooth or a tooth with too much damage to just take a filling. The crowns are very robust and modern crowns can last a lifetime. You still need to floss and brush, but regardless of issues you have had in the past, your crown can be with you for decades to come.
Replacing a Tooth with Implant and Crown
If you have lost a tooth for some reason, move quickly. If you wait, your body naturally loses bone density where the missing tooth once was. But even then it can still be possible to place an implant and then attach a beautiful crown – and you have your tooth back. Some say that the implants are stronger and more durable than the original. Your jaw is made to have teeth. All kinds of problems can develop if you are missing one or more teeth. Contact us now to learn more about this permanent solution that retains and supports your jaw and entire facial structure. We are experts at this kind of tooth replacement.
The Simple Steps for Dental Crowns
We offer a simple and smooth 3-step dental crown procedure for all patients. With years of successful experience working with all types of dental crowns we’ve got you covered. Below is a simple breakdown of the steps you can expect during this simple procedure.
Step #1: Preparation and Temporary Crown
While you await your permanent dental crown to be fabricated at the laboratory, a temporary crown will be placed. This allows you to be able to eat and smile without any problems until the permanent crown is ready. Our high quality permanent crowns are super-long lasting and have a great fit. Then, when the permanent crown is ready, You will come in for a new appointment to place the final crown.
Step #2: Fitting The New Dental Crown
On your second appointment, everything is completed. The new crown is permanently placed. Before the dentist secures the new dental crown, he’ll make sure it fits correctly, thus making sure your bite stays the same and that the new crown fits perfectly and comfortably.
Once the desired fit is achieved, he will move on to the final step in the process.
Step #3: Securing The Dental Crown
Once a proper fit is achieved, the dentist will secure the new dental crown. With regular crowns, this is done with special cement. We are experts in placing crowns on implants and work closely with an implant dentist in the same building. The bite is rechecked and we will also provide appropriate aftercare instructions depending on which type of crown was used.
